Loren Fantin heads up ourdigitalworld.org, a not for profit (social profit) organization that supports digital stewardship of cultural heritage. We work with a diverse group of libraries, archives, museums, historical societies and community groups to create open, interoperable digital collections and aggregate for discovery the stories that define and shape our communities. Our tools, services and initiatives are designed to be collaborative. One of our main goals is to enable inclusive and equitable grassroots participation in digital initiatives.
I have spent the last twenty years or so working on initiatives around greater digital access to and discovery of our community cultural heritage. I’m interested in strategizing on a framework for measuring the social impact/value of digital collections on a community, as well as ways in which we can foster equitable participation.
